They hibernate in the surface soil layer under rose bushes. Adult years are observed in May – July. The sexual index of females is 0.8, males are 0.2. They do not live long – 5-6 days, with additional nutrition 9-10 days. The fertility of females – up to 70 eggs. Eggs are laid in 2-3 events, one at a time into cuts – “pockets” under the bark of young, not yet stiff shoots. The ovipositor numbers 8-10 eggs, up to a maximum of 40. The shooting area in the egg-laying places is cracked, bent, after leaving the larvae, a recess remains in it in the form of a chain with protruding eggshells. Embryonic development is completed within 9-11 days. The exit of the larvae from the oviposits is not simultaneous occurs within 1-3 days. The duration of the larval stage is 20-30 days. The larva molts four times and develops at five ages. False caterpillars live in families at a young age, leaves skeletonize, in older ages spread throughout the bush, gnaw leaves and petioles, with a mass number – completely expose the plant. Having reached the last age, the larvae descend along with shoots into the soil for pupation. The period of the pupal stage is about two weeks.

Protective measures. Timely and thorough implementation of work to care for plantations, which ensures good development of plants and their resistance to damage. Growing resistant varieties. Selective treatment of rose plantations in the initial period of budding with insecticides.
